Sharing Space

Sharing Space is a tribute to the lively creatures that become seasonal companions on and around my backyard deck in Ohio. As spring unfolds into summer and then fades into fall, I have the privilege of observing and, in a way, getting to know them—the birds, the squirrels, the chipmunks, the fleeting moments of recognition between us. With time, they grow accustomed to my presence, and I to theirs, forming a connection that makes our visits feel familiar. Then, as winter arrives, the rhythm of our meetings pauses, marking a quiet departure for some, while others remain unseen, their cycles of life continuing largely beyond my view. When warmth returns, new companions arrive for the first time, joining those who return, bringing us back to this shared space once more.
